Netflix has dropped the teaser of its upcoming Spanish rom-com ‘Sounds Like Love’ (‘Fumios Canciones’) and this one’s like ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ meets ‘Fleabag’. ‘Sounds Like Love’ will premiere globally only on Netflix on 29th September, 2021.
The teaser shows Maca (María Valverde) walking down the street one evening where she gets greeted by Leo (Alex González). He further tells her how he hasn’t stopped thinking about her. Maca then turns towards the audience through the camera and says that if this were a rom-com it would start pouring rain.
And that’s what happens! She further says that if it really was a rom-com she would have jumped in his arms. Netflix’s ’Sounds Like Love’ follows the story of Maca, a 30 years old woman who is clumsy by nature, makes the most of life and strives to be happy. Maca’s talent is wasted working as an assistant for an oppressive and terrifying fashion influencer and she spends her time with guys with whom she never manages to establish an emotional bond.
Together with her two unique and loveable friends, Jimena (Elísabet Casanovas) and Adriana (Susana Abaitúa), who are always prepared to do everything possible to make their problems not seem so bad, Maca has managed to make Madrid a city where everything is possible.
All seems to be going well until HE, the unmentionable one, comes back into her life. Leo (Alex González), the love and biggest mistake of her life, the man who tore her heart apart, obliterated her self-esteem and her faith in men, comes back into her life to turn everything upside down.
Maca has tried to forget him, but now she has to accept that he has returned and she must face those emotions that have been kept under tight lock and key and deal with the unforgettable memory of what could have been and never was.
The old wounds are reopened and Maca will have to be brave and confront her conflicts, fears and insecurities, in order to finally take control of her life.

Helmed by Goya award nominee Juana Macías (‘Planes para mañana’, ‘Bajo el mismo techo’), ‘Sounds Like Love’ is based on the best-selling two-part series by Elísabet Benavent. The film is written by Laura Sarmiento and is filmed in Madrid and Lisbon with Zeta Studios.
Spanish rom-com ‘Sounds Like Love’ will launch worldwide on Netflix on 29th September, 2021.
