Netflix has decided to renew Stranger Things for the fifth and final time. It means Season 5 will be the last addition to the Stranger Things saga. Yes, the majority of the fanbase is heartbroken after encountering this news. Not many shows have been able to establish themselves or reside deep in the hearts of their fans like this 80s sci-fi horror instalment has done. It has successfully lured a record number of viewerships since its debut in July 2016. So, why the Duffer Brothers are planning to close the chapter after Season 5? Let’s find out.
There are various reasons which suggest that the Stranger Things franchise should culminate after the fifth season’s launch on Netflix. All seasons ended with heart-touching moments, perfect conclusions, amazing performances, and the lack of loose ends. And if we look at the plots of all the seasons so far, then we cannot expect Eleven to protect Will and the rest of his gang whenever they get in trouble. The writers cannot stretch or focus too much on El and her abilities.
Fans have a bit of an idea of what will happen to the show’s characters in the forthcoming fourth season. But we believe that two seasons are enough to cover and display everything that the fans want. Additionally, this entire project is based on ‘The Upside Down’. But we do not know a lot about this portal that leads to an alternate reality. Three seasons have passed, yet not a single fan from the show is familiar with the portal’s mechanics. We just do not know how it works. We may get all our answers in the upcoming fourth season. But this thing is not something that the makers can stretch up to seven or eight seasons.
The biggest problem with the show is the growing age of many of its performers. A lot of them were in their early teenage years when they got selected for the show. Now, they are near 18. We cannot imagine them playing the teenage version of their characters for the rest of their lives. They are growing up and evolving. And we should do the same as well.
How about ending this article with a piece of good news? The Duffer Brothers have shown keen interest in working on Stranger Things spin-off projects in future. The directional duo believes that they both have “many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things”. Although, the future development of all these spin-offs heavily depends upon the success of its forthcoming seasons. The first volume of Season 4 will arrive on May 27 and the second one on July 1. It stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and many more.
