The show is not only getting rave reviews from critics, it’s also getting huge praises from the viewers who have now turned fans of the show. So much so that demands have been raised for an immediate second season of ‘Supacell’.
Created, written, showrun and directed by Rapman, ‘Supacell’ is set in South London where a group of normal people develop superpowers, and the only apparent connection between them is that they are all Black; as they deal with the impact of their powers on their daily lives, one man must bring them together.
There are multiple reasons why ‘Supacell’ has so quickly risen to the status of must watch and most important among them are engaging narrative, strong performances and cultural relevance. The show’s connection to sickle cell and the killer background score are some other factors that has gripped viewers.
‘Supacell’ is innovative in the sense that it does not follow the traditional superhero model and has a fresh take to offer. The show has a diverse group of characters who deal with their personal and real life issues when they discover their newly developed superpowers. And that’s not what we usually see in the superhero genre.
Moreover, the performances delivered by the ensemble cast is just stellar with each of them bringing authenticity and depth in their portrayal of the characters.
Combine this with Rapman’s distinct vision, storytelling prowess and how he blends social issues with entertainment, it makes ‘Supacell’ not just a regular sci-fi show but a great one with reflection of contemporary societal themes.
‘Supacell’ has definitely struck a chord with the audience and as the word of mouth grows the viewership for the show is expected to scale higher. If you haven’t caught up on the show yet, these reactions of those who have watched ‘Supacell’ on Netflix might make you want to watch it right away!
If you see hoards of people looking gloomy today it’s because we’ve all finished #Supacell and have to wait for Season 2. 😡 #ImmediateRewatch

#Supacell is amazing. Rapman wrote and directed a winner. I loved the performances from everyone. It was top notch, quality and a game changer. It's hard to choose a favourite character but it was special watching such a well put together series. I loved every moment of it.

I just finished watching #Supacell and this is a fucking 10/10. I’m glad they switched it up and not made a show about gangsters and shit but a show about Londoners with superpowers is fucking dope I definitely hope this gets another season. pic.twitter.com/aBDNWgXjjo
