Test, starring R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, is now streaming on Netflix. But before planning to watch this S. Sashikanth film, perhaps it’s best to first see what critics and audiences think about it. Right? Well, let’s take a look at the early reactions surrounding the film.
According to early reactions, Test has received strong criticism for its weak storyline and characterisation. Despite introducing some interesting ideas and blending multiple genres, it crumbles under the weight of its ambitions and weak writing. Moreover, it lacks emotional depth and intense moments.
This newest R. Madhavan starrer is definitely one of Netflix India’s biggest releases in April. With a leading trio of outstanding talents, the movie should have been a gripping and entertaining watch—but it failed to deliver.
Siddharth’s performance has also garnered mixed reviews from critics. While some have praised his restrained and calm approach to the role, others feel he should have done more with his character. Nayanthara, too, fails to leave a lasting impact. Additionally, most of the supporting cast, including Nassar and Meera Jasmine, have been underutilised.
However, R. Madhavan’s performance is the movie’s brightest spot—he quite literally holds the film together. Madhavan excels in roles with shades of gray, and this performance is no exception.
Despite a strong cast, Test falls short, resulting in a tedious viewing experience. While Madhavan’s compelling performance is a highlight and Siddharth and Nayanthara contribute adequately, the film’s shortcomings—uninspired writing, a drawn-out narrative, and a lack of emotional resonance—ultimately diminish its potential.
Here are some of the first reactions to Test, now streaming on Netflix.
After an engaging setup and well-defined characters finding themselves in testing scenarios, #TestOnNetflix rapidly slips into a routine crime drama. The over-dramatic sequences are somewhat balanced by strong performances from two of the leads. A one-time watch. Full review… pic.twitter.com/3TFNR1s5Ez

In some movies, it's the performances that hold your attention throughout—and that's what makes #Test worth a watch. ✌️
Brilliant performances by #Nayanthara, #Siddharth, and especially #RMadhavan elevate the uneven and dragged-out screenplay.

Rating: ⭐⭐ #Test is completely OUT OF FORM in terms of entertainment and engagement. Filled with flaws, this #SSashikanth directorial manages to grip you for just a few scenes, while the rest of the film remains below par.
