Netflix’s ‘The Railway Men’ Teaser Promises A Riveting Drama

Netflix has just dropped the first teaser for its highly anticipated upcoming show, ‘The Railway Men’. The limited series premieres on Netflix worldwide on 18th November, 2023.

The four-part series ‘The Railway Men’ is inspired by the real-life events surrounding the devastating Bhopal Gas Tragedy, which stunned the world back in 1984. The series recounts the tales of unprecedented bravery that was displayed by a few courageous individuals amidst all the death and despair.

December 2, 1984 was the day that tragedy struck in Bhopal in the form of the poisonous gas leak that killed hundreds of people in the Madhya Pradesh capital city. The Railway Men will recount the story of the brave stationmaster of the Bhopal Railway Terminus, and his colleagues, who saved the lives of thousands of people on that fateful day. The heroic deeds of the stationmaster Ghulam Dastagir and his colleagues remain unsung and unheard of to this day. ‘The Railway Men’ will bring these forgotten acts of bravery into the limelight through the medium of storytelling.

Back in 1984, when the deadly gas had Bhopal in its grip, railway men at the Bhopal junction realised that the only way to save maximum people from the perils of the gas would be to shepherd them onto trains and transport them out of the city to safer locales. From top officers of Bhopal Junction, to motormen and police officials – everyone pulled their weight to carry off the rescue effort. The Railway Men captures the bravery of these unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Leak.

The teaser of The Railway Men shows us glimpses of the tragic events, the resilience and courage of a few driven individuals to make a difference, and the stellar cast playing those individuals. R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma and Babil Khan play lead roles in The Railway Men.

R. Madhavan plays the GM of Central Railways, who kicks off the rescue effort. Kay Kay Menon plays the Station Master of Bhopal Junction. Divyenndu Sharma plays a police officer who enables the rescue. Rising star Babil Khan plays the all important motorman, who navigates the trains carrying rescued people out of Bhopal. Debutant director Shiv Rawail is directing the series.

The Railway Men premieres on Netflix worldwide on 18th November, 2023. Have a look at the teaser of the series –
