The Henry Cavill starrer, ‘The Witcher‘ premiered its second season on Netflix on 17th December 2021. The book-turned-game-series-turned-web-series made a huge splash when it premiered its first season almost two years ago – and the new season is just as good. The second season dropped some callbacks, from both the game series and the first season, making it as relatable as possible. However, there are a few noticeable things that differ from the award-winning game series and the original novels, so let’s check out three of them:
Yennefer Loses Her Magic
Or rather, she lost her ability to access chaos, which is what we mean by magic, after the Battle of Sodden. Throughout this entire season, we see Yennefer – the most powerful mage that The Geralt of Rivi has ever met – bumble around without magic for nearly eight episodes. She eventually is able to access chaos at the end of the last episode. In the novel series, she does not lose her powers though. However, she is blinded by a fellow mage, Fringilla, after the aforementioned battle.
Eskel Dies While Coen Survives
In the game series, Coen dies quite early on while Eskel survives all three games. However, in this season, Eskel doesn’t even make it past the episode he is introduced. This is kind of annoying, especially for a character that has a decent fan following within “The Witcher community”.
The Lawyer, Fenn, Is A Woman
Codringher and Fenn is a famous law firm that is mentioned in the books and the games as well and as of this season, in the Netflix series as well. This law firm was founded by two men – Ellis Codringher and Jacob Fenn – or at least it was in the previous “two versions of the story”. In the web series, however, Fenn is a woman.
Both seasons of ‘The Witcher’ is currently streaming on Netflix.
