An autobiographical musical is making its way to Netflix, very soon. “Tick, Tick…Boom!” is the upcoming musical that stars Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, Vanessa Hudgens and Robin de Jesus in lead roles. The musical earlier has been a Broadway show and has been a successful one indeed. The story is written by Jonathon Larson and inspired by his own life and thoughts during that particular time. He also is Pulitzer award winner for his production “Rent” posthumously
The musical is about how the main author, “Jon” who is in his 30s fills like he hasn’t achieved anything and the feeling of utter failure starts chiming in. This is what explains the mid life crisis. As he progresses through his life and the musical goes on, he reveals how he feels he is miles away from his dreams that he once had and now feels like he isn’t worth it.
This feeling of hopelessness and underachieving is felt by all at different phases of lives and this is the very moment that tests our patience. This is the very moment of life that sees if we can move past this and succeed or succumb to it. Same was the case with Jonathon Larson; he became a part of Rent and also composed his autobiography in the form of Tick Tick…Boom!
The movie version is being directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the movie has been known to resume its shooting as it was put on hold due to the pandemic. The movie is supposed to hit sooner but due to the ongoing issues of COVID-19, shoot has been delayed and now has been eyeing an early or mid-2021 release. Even though the shooting is resumed, the actors, cast and crew are seen following all the protocols necessary to avoid COVID-19.
