“Torbaaz”, one of 2020’s much awaited movies released its trailer a few days ago and what an impactful trailer it was. Releasing on the 11th of December and streaming on Netflix, it shows the story of a man who suffers from his past and yet finds his happiness amongst the kids of a refugee camp in Afghanistan. Covered under the shades of a happy afterlife, terrorism is what takes over the lives of these families and kids in the refugee camp. The conditions are more or less said to be made almost similar to what it actually is in Afghanistan.
An army doctor, who is struggling with his own past and somehow managing to move forward ultimately, finds a reason to be in the present. A group of children from a refugee camp in Afghanistan that is under the direct control of a terrorist leader is used by the group for the purpose of suicide bombing. Promised a better afterlife and fulfilment of their lives’ purpose, children are brainwashed and taken away for their terrorist activity. This is where Dr. Nasser comes in, as he tries to teach the kids of the camp cricket and lets them find happiness in the game.
He fights for them in order to save their lives and keep them alive. While the terrorist group still wants to step in as they believe that’s not what they are meant to do. The trailer shows the riveting change cricket brings into their lives as they compete for bigger competitions now to be able to make a mark and come out of the place they are in and Dr. Nasser has their back throughout.
An emotional journey throughout and the never ending love for cricket will definitely move the audience. After all we are a nation that eats, sleeps, and breathes cricket and what better way to present the story where cricket can save lives of children from being pawns in terrorism. A powerful cast, shot with the backdrop of Kyrgyzstan’s landscape, this will be something worth watching. The story is actually based on the case of terror groups using children from refugee camps as suicide bombers. Directed by Girish Malik, this movie will be the first of Sanjay Dutt’s after recovering from cancer.
