Nature will push back! Netflix has dropped the official trailer for its upcoming Norwegian monster flick, Troll. If you think Godzilla or King Kong are the only ancient beasts that pose a threat to humanity, then you must add trolls to your list as well. The upcoming Roar Uthaug directional takes place in the Norwegian mountains after a powerful explosion awakens an ancient troll. We will see an oddball group of heroes trying to stop the giant troll from wreaking havoc in the film.
The official trailer of Troll looks a bit silly. Well, the majority of the monster movies have silly premises. But that’s what makes them entertaining.
The Wave (2015) and Tomb Raider (2018) fame, Roar Uthaug, has helmed the forthcoming Netflix monster project. On the other hand, prominent Norwegian screenwriter, Espen Aukan, has penned Troll’s script. Ine Marie Wilmann leads the cast as a palaeontologist named Nora. The rest of the cast includes performers like Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Gard B. Eidsvold, and Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen.
Netflix unveiled the film’s teaser in June this year. Not much was shown in that clip as it was just a teaser. But the trailer gives a clear picture of the monster and the destruction that comes with it. In an interview with Deadline in January 2022, Netflix executive David Kosse described the film as “a giant four-quadrant event movie that happens to take place in Norway… with a troll.”
‘Troll’ will release on Netflix on December 1. Stay tuned for more updates.
