Netflix is gearing up to release its latest German thriller series on its platform. Limited series ‘Dear Child’ premieres on Netflix worldwide on 7th September, 2023, which is a Thursday. The platform has also revealed the official trailer for ‘Dear Child’, which amps up buzz for the series considerably.
The six-part German psychological thriller series ‘Dear Child’ on Netflix is adapted from Romy Hausmann’s novel of the same name. The series centres on a kidnapped woman who manages to escape her captor’s clutches. But her emergence from captivity leads investigators to another unsolved disappearance from many years ago.
The official Netflix synopsis for Dear Child reads, “A mysterious woman’s escape from her harrowing captivity points investigators toward the dark truth behind an unsolved disappearance thirteen years ago”.
The official synopsis for ‘Dear Child’ from the producers reads, “Lena lives in complete isolation with her two children, Hannah and Jonathan, in a high-security house. They eat their meals, go to the bathroom, and go to bed at precisely prescribed times. As soon as he enters the room, they line up to show their hands. They do everything he says. Until the young woman manages to escape. After a near-fatal car accident, she is hospitalized. But the true extent of this nightmare is revealed when Lena’s parents arrive at the hospital the same night”.
The cast for Dear Child includes Kim Riedle, Naila Schuberth, Sammy Schrein, Hans Löw, Haley Louise Jones, Justus von Dohnányi, Julika Jenkins, Birge Schade, Christian Beermann, Seraphina Maria Schweiger, Özgür Karadeniz, and Jeanne Goursaud, among others. The series is written and directed by Isabel Kleefeld and Julian Pörksen.
