It is indeed a very sad time for lovers of cinema. New filmmakers are creating a huge craze around the craft and they rightfully deserve the praise that they are getting. But the industry is not recognizing the mastery of the geniuses of the old times.
Francis Ford Coppola’s dream project ‘Megalopolis’ has been deemed to be ‘too experimental’ to be promoted with one hundred million Dollars. Studios have claimed that the movie does not look very profitable to them and that there is ‘just no way to position this movie’. Yesterday came the news that David Lynch, one of the finest arthouse directors and surrealistic filmmakers is not being able to create his dream animated project ‘Snootworld’. Netflix has canceled the project and he is still looking for funds.
It saddens to think that true artists of the genre who have given so much to the industry are being so neglected by the industry now. Francis Ford Coppola has directed movies like Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Rainmaker, Dracula and so on. It has been four decades since he started working on Megalopolis, and such an ambitious project is failing to find a distributor. There are speculations that it might be picked up by a rather small firm.
Netizens have reacted to the news with much negativity. They ushered support for the filmmaker and exclaimed how the ungrateful industry does not give its veterans the respect they deserve. The reactions might not be very effective in reaching out to the Studios and making a miracle work, but fans hope that Francis Ford Coppola ( and David Lynch as well) find their position in the industry and release the movie with a bang.
It's like, possibly really clear they're doing this to Coppola out of spite, right? Is there any reason left I should know about

Those studio execs are def not cinéphiles, just a bunch of lousy cringe businessmen.
Desperately need execs who treat movies as love, not experiments.
Kudos to Coppola though! https://t.co/fjZyDn5jK5— Rizky KDN (@RizkyKDN) April 9, 2024
We live in a world where David Lynch can't get funding for his animated project, "Snootworld" & Francis Ford Coppola struggling to get distribution rights for his dream movie "Megalopolis"; while Hollywood studios make their uninteresting remakes & sequels. https://t.co/HEt9bXc30T
