JioCinema has launched a new premium plan. This comes after the recent merger of Reliance Industries and Walt Disney. It seems like this merger has forced JioCinema to change its premium plan.
The newly released JioCinema’s Premium Plan costs Rs. 99 per month. At the time of launch, this plan used to cost Rs. 999 per year. This scenario takes the total cost of the new Premium Plan up to Rs. 1,188 for a year, a significant increase of Rs. 189 from the annual subscription model.
We checked the official website of JioCinema’s subscription plan and found only the new monthly subscription plan. The platform has removed the annual subscription model of Rs. 999. Upon further checking, we discovered that the monthly subscription model is valid till March 31. Click the ‘Proceed to Pay’ option on JioCinema’s page for online subscription plans to know more about this scenario.
This overall scenario is very confusing as JioCinema’s subscription plan page does not show the annual subscription plan, making many people wonder whether the platform has completely discarded the previous plan. No updates have surfaced yet from Jio (Reliance) regarding this matter.
What is JioCinema’s purpose in launching the monthly subscription plan? Is it a part of the OTT platform’s new strategy to gain more subscribers? We do not know for sure.
Through the Premium Plan, JioCinema offers the ‘Best of Hollywood’ content to its subscribers, enabling them to watch premium content from HBO and other popular channels. Users can use up to 4 devices to enjoy this plan. Stay tuned for more updates.
