Netflix has just dropped the first teaser for its upcoming Korean series ‘The Atypical Family’. The streaming giant has also revealed the release date for the series along with the teaser. ‘The Atypical Family’ will premiere on Netflix on 4th May with its first episode.
The series will follow the two episodes per week format of most Korean shows on Netflix, one each on Saturday and Sunday per week. The Atypical Family is created by Kang Eun-kyung, written by Joo Hwa-mi, and directed by Jo Hyun-taek.
Netflix’s ‘The Atypical Family’ is a romantic drama of sorts. It follows a family of superheroes with special powers, all of whom have lost their superpowers due to modern illnesses. When a mysterious woman enters their family, she turns their lives upside down.
The series stars Jang Ki-Yong (My Mister, Born Again) as Bok Gwi-joo, who has the superpower to time-travel, but has lost his ability due to depression. Chun Woo-hee (The Wailing, The Beauty Inside) plays Do Da-hae, a mysterious woman with superpowers of her own.
Go Doo-shim (Twinkling Watermelon) plays Bok Man-heum, Gwi-joo’s mother, who has the superpower to see the future in her dreams but has lost her powers due to insomnia. Finally, Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Gyeongseong Creature) plays Bok Dong-hee, Gwi-joo’s elder sister, who has the superpower to fly.
The official Netflix synopsis for The Atypical Family reads – “Once blessed with unique superpowers, a family loses their abilities due to modern day problems — until a mysterious woman changes everything”.
