Is the following statement controversial to make?: Podcasters are the new reporters. In the annoying sense.
Yes? No? Nevermind.
Following the lead of this statement, however, is Netflix’s freshly announced comedic thriller ‘Bodkin’. Following the narrative of podcasters chasing down a true crime mystery in an idyllic but very secretive Irish town, the series is officially set to be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix from May 9.
So far, the ensemble cast includes Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, and Robyn Cara. Forte is an American comedian and actor who was a cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live for eight seasons. Cullen is an Irish actress who began her career as a child actress, and landed her first major big-screen role in Eoin Macken’s horror film ‘The Inside’. Lastly, Cara is a British actress with more TV roles than films, but her movies include ‘Doctor Jekyll’.
The trailer for ‘Bodkin’ begins with a door being shut on the faces of eager-eyed podcasters. With satirical commentary accompanying the dark and somber Irish landscapes, the team of podcasters at the crux of the series have one task in mind: uncovering the mystery of the disappearance of 3 townsmen, 21 years ago.
With the impending threat of an uncaught serial killer looming, the lives of the podcasters are at risk. As their lives begin to unravel and become more and more intertwined with the creepy town, will they be able to crack the case and make it out unharmed?
