Jenna Ortega starrer dark dramedy series ‘Wednesday’ set the pop-culture world on fire as it cemented itself as a fan-favorite and memes and trends related to the show became all the rage on social media.
Much to fans’ pleasure, Netflix announced the renewal of the show for a second season in January last year. And now, the most recent addition to the cast of the megahit series is the Emmy-winning British actress Thandiwe Newton. Newton is renowned for her roles in features such as “Crash,” “Beloved,” “The Pursuit of Happyness,” and “W.”
This comes following the announcement that acclaimed character actor Steve Buscemi will also be seen in the upcoming season. While most other details are being kept under wraps regarding Season 2, it is official that Ortega will reprise her role as the titular daughter of the seemingly sinister Addams Family.
Having premiered in November 2022, the show became an instant hit and continues to rank as one of the most-watched series on Netflix. It was also nominated for 12 Emmys, successfully winning four. Production of the new season is anticipated to begin in late April in Ireland.
While the first season ended with Wednesday solving a series of grisly murders and saving Nevermore Academy along the way, viewers all across the world are waiting with bated breath to witness what Season 2 brings forth!
