Excitement among fans of the Jayasurya led Malayalam comedy franchise “Aadu” is reaching its zenith, as its writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas took to Facebook to announce that Aadu 3 is currently in the works. The original film and the first instalment in the trilogy, which was an adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy flick Snatch, surprisingly did not do well at the box office, but after it was released on DVD was when it garnered popularity and a cult status in Mollywood.
The storyline revolves around Shaji Pappan, played by Jayasurya, and his group of lackeys and how they get caught in the crossfire of high profile drug deals in a hilarious manner. The boost in its fame led to a spark in interest in the characters and their quirkiness by the fans, and consequently a sequel was produced. Aadu 2 did phenomenally well in theatres and was Jayasurya’s top grosser in 2017. With rumours buzzing around Aadu 3 introducing new faces and also a 3D experience whilst also being slated for an Onam release, fans are through the roof on hearing today’s announcement.
Penned and directed by the budding Midhun Manuel Thomas, the series is dearly loved by Mollywood aficionados, and with a cast of Vinayakan,Vijay Babu, Sunny Wayne, Saiju Kurup viewers are excited to see them reprise the comedic roles they all know and love so much. As for now, you can stream Aadu on Disney+ Hotstar and have a hearty time for yourself.
