Netflix’s “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan and “Baby Reindeer” fame Jessica Gunning have joined the cast of the forthcoming feature adaptation of Enid Blyton’s “The Magic Faraway Tree” novel series. Apart from these two talented actresses, “Ted Lasso” star Nonso Anozie has also joined the movie’s cast, which is stacked with talents such as Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy.
Coughlan will play the woodland fairy, Silky, accompanied by Gunning as Dane Washalot and Anozie as Moonface. Other new cast members, such as Mark Heap will portray Mr. Oom Boom Boom, Dustin Demri-Burns will play Saucepan Man, and Oliver Chris will take on the role of Mr. Watzisname.
Taking inspiration from Blyton’s work, the upcoming film adaptation will revolve around the Thomspon family, as they shift to the English countryside and encounter a magical tree. The residents of the magical tree are known to transport visitors to distant lands.
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy play the parents, Tim and Polly Thomspon, respectively. Their children will be Fran, Joe, and Beth. In addition to this star-studded cast, the film has prominent British actors Michael Palin, Simon Russell Beale, and Lenny Henry. The trio will play wise men from a region known as the ‘Land of Know-Alls’.
Neal Street Productions’ Nicolas Brown and Pippa Harris are producing “The Magic Faraway Tree” movie, along with Jane Hooks and Danny Perkins from Elysian Film Group. Ben Gregor will helm the project. Stay tuned for more updates.
