Durga Puja is the sheer time of Bengali movies to have a chance to prove themselves, and surely they did, with “Bohurupi” winning the box office and “Tekka” on the second. The Puja movies proved themselves worthy.
But, slowly but gradually “Tekk” and “Shastri” faded out of the scene, it could have been a nice time to release something new.
But why is there no release on Diwali?
Surly Hoichoi has some lined up content which will premiere on OTT, but there is no theatrical release.
Is it because the Bengali industry has nothing new to offer, or they are scared that Diwali will be consumed by Bollywood?
Because, this Diwali Bollywood is coming strong with movies like “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” and “Singham Again”.
So, even if a Bengali movie announces their release date on Diwali it will clash with these big two giants, and fail at the box office.
Because audiences are super pumped for the release of Bollywood movies this Diwali.
If we pay close attention then we’ll see it is kind of a pattern where Durga Puja is to be slated for Bengali movies and Diwali will be occupied by the Bollywood industry.
With many OTT releases lined up this Diwali Bengali audience won’t be deprived of content, because Feluda alongside Bhaduri Moshai is coming back, but in OTTs.
