Because it’s Puthren’s brainchild(pun intended). And that is exactly what they are hoping for on-screen: an Alphonse Putren spectacle.
There is a running joke in the industry that Puthren’s films don’t have anything new in them and it’s surprisingly true. It’s how the story is told that makes the movie-going experience magical. A master editor, Puthren is well known for creating magic during post-production. Hence the least bit of positive talks and the film will be Mollywood’s industry hit before bidding farewell to 2022.
‘Gold‘ is to have one of the biggest ensemble casts for a Malayalam film, led by Prithviraj and Nayanthara. The film is bilingual and will have a wide release in Tamil Nadu as well, courtesy of the popularity of Alphonse Puthren’s films, supported by the presence of the Lady Superstar herself. The film however will reportedly only have a Tamil dub available in the state from December 2 owing to technical issues.
While minimal promotions and the absence of a trailer is an absolute risk for most films, for Gold, the intrigue generated by the absence of these has only benefitted it. Add to the lot a star director, one of Mollywood’s top actors, and the Lady Superstar of South India.
Yes. The movie from every little bit known will be worth a movie ticket and more.
