There is an awesome update for all cinephiles, especially for those of you who loved Bob Odenkirk’s last year’s explosive action flick ‘Nobody’. The Russia-born filmmaker Ilya Naishuller, who had helmed the film ‘Nobody’, has purportedly been roped in to direct Amazon Studios’ upcoming action-comedy movie titled ‘Heads of State’ starring John Cena and Idris Elba in the lead roles.
Although the precise plot details for ‘Heads of State’ are being kept under the wraps, it is currently known that the movie’s underlying premise is being described as ‘Air Force One meets Midnight Run’ kind of a film. The plot will feature two disparate and mismatched characters who somehow get involved in a high-stakes situation.
Before directing the surprise hit ‘Nobody’, Ilya Naishuller had previously helmed the immensely underrated science-fiction action film ‘Hardcore Henry’, which featured ‘District 9’ actor Sharlto Copley. The 2015 film was Ilya Naishuller’s feature film directorial debut and was unique in the way it narrated the story from a first-person point of view. Sadly, it’s not streaming anywhere in India as of now.
WWE wrestler turned Hollywood actor John Cena had previously starred alongside Idris Elba in James Gunn’s critically acclaimed superhero flick ‘The Suicide Squad’. John Cena later reprised his role for HBO Max’s widely admired ‘Peacemaker’ series and will next be seen in the political thriller movie ‘The Independent’. While Edris Elba, who recently starred in the survival thriller film ‘Beast’, is all set for the eagerly anticipated feature film adaptation of the hit crime drama series ‘Luther’, amongst other acting projects.
