Another massive movie is ready for a rerelease. The movie business is going through a massive change. Where the more profitable releases turn out to be re-releases. If we go through the trends for the last month, the movies re-released were the blockbusters at their time of release. Movies like Pacific Rim and Fast and Furious 7 were the perfect spectacle movies.
However, it was still dominated by animated movies like Mobile Suit Gundam, COCO, and Cooraline. These movies, along with Texas Chainsaw Masacare, were taking up the movie halls. In November, the trend continued with Godzilla Minus One, John Wick, and Metropolis.
Now, if we look for the slate for the next month, we already had the announcement for the re-release of my neighbor totoro. Now it will be joined by perhaps one of the most visually striking of the Nolan movies of all time.
That’s right, Interstellar is having a rerelease next on the 6th of December. Not just that, it will be different from the other releases as the movie will be available on IMAX.
And although it is definitely a good thing, given the experience of watching a movie like Interstellar in IMAX is something that should not be missed, it is definitely not helping the shortage of fresh releases in Hollywood, which is infested with sequel adaptations and remakes.
