The wait is over. The official teaser trailer for ‘Nosferatu’ is out now. The movie is a remake of the 1922 expressionist masterpiece of the same name by F. W. Murnau, which was itself a creative adaptation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’. The movie had been remade in 1979 as ‘Nosferatu The Vampyre’ by the legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog and that was equally popular. Robert Eggers goes on to be another big name that adds up to the oeuvre.
The trailer is awesome and it manages to inspire awe in the audience. Robert Eggers reminds us that the tale of Nosferatu can still horrifying us and strike terror. The movie stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin and of course, Willem Dafoe who is almost a regular collaborator of Eggers.
Bill Skarsgård plays the role of the terrifying count Orlok, an intimidating role that has previously been played by Max Schrek and Klaus Kinski.
Eggers executes the gothic tale of obsession in a style completely his own. He seems to be blending the expressionistic style of Murnau and the environment of Herzog. Eggers is considered one of the holy trinity of horror filmmakers in contemporary cinema along with Jordan Peele and Ari Aster. His fans are excited that with Nosferatu he will level up his game and show something unexpected like he has done with movies like ‘The Witch’, ‘The Northman’ and ‘The Lighthouse’. The trailer ascertains that the expectations will not go in vain. The visuals are extraordinary and the filmmaker sets a textbook example of how to adapt a classic horror
