The nominations for BAFTA are now over. The prestigious Award show was live streaming its nominations on YouTube. Given the thunderous response to RRR in multiple award shows including Golden Globes, it was anticipated that the film will also be nominated for BAFTA. But it is not the case.
One major reason behind this is the lack of varied categories in the BAFTA. It doesn’t include any category for Songs, which has the highest prospect from RRR.
Regardless, the category for “Film Not In The English Language” was filled by:
All Quiet On The Western Front
Argentina
Corsage
Decision To Leave
The Quiet Girl
In fact, All Quiet On The Western Front is the most nominated film at the BAFTA with a total of 14 categories.
But there is another Indian film racing to win a BAFTA. It is possibly the second strongest contender for International Awards this year for India. In fact, it was already won many awards till now.
We are talking about Shaunak Sen’s documentary called All That Breathes. It is competing in the “Documentary” category along with:
All The Beauty And The Bloodshed
Fire Of Love
Moonage Daydream
Navalny
Documentary is still a highly under-tapped style of filmmaking in India and its win might bring some positive change in its field. We wish Shaunak Sen all t he best.
