After two highly successful movie adaptations, the acclaimed thriller novel ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ is going to be adapted as a series. A series based on the book is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, and it is being co-produced by Left Bank Pictures.
Stieg Larsson’s ‘Girl With A Dragon Tattoo’ is a thriller novel, and the first entry of the ‘Millenium Novels’. The first adaptation of the book was in 2009 when filmmaker Niels Arden Oplev adapted it into a Swedish-Danish movie. Two years later, popular Hollywood director David Fincher adapted it to a movie with the same name with actors like Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård, Steven Berkoff etc. The movie went on to be nominated and win many acclaimed awards. ‘Girl With A Dragon Tattoo’ even had a miniseries on Swedish television. And now, it is being brought for OTT as a thrilling miniseries.
Veena Sud will be serving as the showrunner of the series. She has previously developed the show ‘The Killing’ and has also directed films like ‘The Stranger’, ‘I Stop Writing The Poem’.
It was announced in 2020 that Lisbeth Salander, the protagonist of the movie, will have a solo series soon. Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the main characters of the Millenium novels. Stieg Larsson wrote three of the Novels, and the series was later continued by other writers.
It is great news that such a popular and well written thriller is getting a web series adaptation. There is a huge fan base for the Millenium novels and fans wait for the series ardently.
