Disney possesses two of the strongest cinematic assets, Marvel and Star Wars. Though Marvel did revamp from their middle mediocre stage, Star Wars is deeply trapped in the mud. Though Star Wars showed some sparks, it was far from becoming its old self.
And one such spark was Obi-Wan Kenobi which started with a strong promise but in later episodes turned into meaningless television.
Though the series concluded season 1 strongly, most of the part did look like filler so fans were definitely a bit disappointed with the series. But like all franchise and their hardcore fans, they are always excited about the content that’s coming.
So, here is a question. Will there be a season 2?
Though the final episode featured a clash between Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, as of now, it doesn’t look like the series will proceed. Especially adding up the bad reputation it has gathered, it might not go forward.
During a recent panel in 2024, McGregor stated that the series was initially planned to be a series. From a critical point of view, it would have been a better choice anyway; the series does look a lot extended for the majority of areas.
“There was originally gonna be a movie, and I’ve often thought, should it have been a movie? But I kinda think it’s great that they did it that way, and it’s a longer story, and hopefully, it’s more satisfying as a result. We got more time to weave a story. Let’s hope they do another one. Can everyone write to Disney?”
So as of now, the chances look dim, dark, and without hope, as Star Wars does have some major projects on its plate.
