It was a long long long wait for Malayalam superstar Prithviraj and his fans to finally see his action drama Kaduva hit the big screens. Initially scheduled for a June 30th release, the release of the film got pushed to July 7th owing to unforseen circumstances as per the makers. The Shaji Kailas directorial finally hit the movies today and the credits of the movie officially cited Amazon Prime Video as their streaming/digital partner. This very much means after the theatre window, Kaduva will stream on Amazon Prime India.
Although the makers haven’t made the reason behind the delay clear, sources reveal that the censoring of the film got delayed due to legal shackles. There were multiple litigations against the film since its inception. Of which one of the most prominent litigations came from Jose Kuruvinakunnel who claimed the film is unofficially based on his life. The makers have thereby even changed the name of it’s main man from Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan to Kaduvakunnel Kuriachan.
The film is set in late 1990s and revolves around an influential young rubber planter from Mundakayam named Kaduvakunnel Kuriachan, and his fight with DIG Joseph Chandy IPS that ensue a string of chaos in the lives of both parties. Kaduva is written by Jinu V Abraham and is supposedly a fictionalized version of a true story.
Kaduva stars Vivek Oberoi and Samyuktha Menon in lead roles alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. Kaduva is jointly produced by Supriya Menon of Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames with the latter also distributing the film. Jakes Bejoy composes the background score and original songs of the film. However, Kaduva’s official date of streaming is still not out yet and we hear it’ll take longer to be on prime, if the film proves to be successful venture (which it looks like it will be).
