If you liked ‘Oldboy’, the gripping and sharp crime and mystery thriller from acclaimed Korean director Park Chan-wook, you will be happy to know that he is all set to start production on his next Korean crime thriller, titled, ‘Decision to Leave’. The shoot of the movie is most likely to begin in November.
The cast of Decision To Leave is headed by Chinese actress Tang Wei (‘Lust, Caution,’) and Korean actor Park Hye-il (The Host, Memories of Murder). The rest of the cast includes Lee Jung-hyun, Go Kyung-pyo and Park Yong-woo.
Decision To Leave will be produced by Moho Films and CJ Entertainment. The script has been written by Park Chan-wook himself, along with Jeong Seo-kyeong, who had also worked with Park on his critically acclaimed 2016 film ‘The Handmaiden’. Park’s erotic thriller The Handmaiden had even featured at the Cannes Film Festival of 2016.
The narrative of Decision To Leave centres on a murder mystery in the countryside. A persistent detective, played by Park Hye-il, has to investigate a possible murder of a man. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he begins to develop feelings for the man’s widow, played by Tang. But he also begins to suspect that she is not all that innocent as she seems.
Park Chan-wook’s last work was the six-part BBC drama, ‘Little Drummer Girl’. His Oldboy was adapted into an Indian remake titled Zinda, starring Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham.
