‘The Witcher’ fans rejoice because Netflix has announced that a prequel to the fantasy show called ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ which will be a limited six-part series exploring the backstory of the Elven world and its origin.
The limited series prequel will be set 1200 years before the events of ‘The Witcher’ take place when the Conjunction of Spheres occurred that spurred a cataclysmic change in the world of magic and monsters.
‘The Witcher’ has only had one season until now which was a huge success and very well received by audiences. Basking in the success, Netflix had also announced an anime film set in the world of ‘The Witcher’ which is also in development.
The new series will be written by Declan de Barra with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich as the executive producer and author Andrzej Sapkowski creatively consulting the show’s narrative.
Meanwhile the filming for season 2 of ‘The Witcher’ had been delayed until now due to the ongoing pandemic but is set to start in the U.K. next month onwards.
