One Piece Season 2 has locked in two more talented performers, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) and Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent). The former actor will play Dr. Kureha, whereas Harelik will be seen donning the character of Dr. Hiriluk in the upcoming live-action Season 2.
Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha, two prominent figures in the One Piece universe, played pivotal roles in Luffy’s life. Hiriluk, Luffy’s adoptive father, was a kind-hearted doctor who lived on Drum Island. He was one of the few individuals who truly believed in Luffy’s dream of becoming the King of the Pirates. Kureha, another renowned doctor from Drum Island and head of the Isshi-100, is known for her vast medical knowledge and eccentric personality. She has offered Luffy and his crew valuable advice and medical assistance on numerous occasions.
Fans of Netflix’s One Piece series are eagerly waiting to see the live-action version of Dr. Kureha in Season 2. According to some reports, Jamie Lee Curtis was supposed to play the character instead of Sagal. However, her busy filming schedule stopped her from becoming a part of the popular live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series.
Filming for Season 2 is currently underway in Cape Town, South Africa.
One Piece Season 2 is expected to premiere on Netflix in late 2025 or early 2026, depending on the duration of the post-production work. Stay tuned for more updates.
