The Only Murders In The Building twitter account had teased fans yesterday with an image of the elevator pad. Eagle-eyed fans immediately began dissecting it for clues and wondered if it contained the release date for the second season of the show. Turns out, it did. Have a look at the image below:
As you can see, the keys for number 2, 8 and 6 are pressed. This translates to the second season release date – 28/6. The first season of the show premiered on August 31, 2021.
The show was a mystery comedy following three strangers played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, who share an obsession with a true crime podcast. After a suspicious death in their affluent Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia, the three neighbours decide to start their own podcast about their investigation of the death, which the police ruled a suicide.
The show received a huge positive response. The acting of its lead actors and chemistry amongst them received all round praise. It was reported that the show set a record for the most-watched comedy premiere in Hulu history.
Although the primary mystery of the show was solved during the first season itself, the season itself ended on a cliff-hanger. The trio was arrested as they were found with building manager Bunny’ dead body covered in blood.
The show is a Hulu original and streams exclusively on Hulu in markets where it is available. In India, season 1 of the show was available on Disney + Hotstar. Season 2 is thus expected to be released on Disney + Hotstar. Like season 1, the upcoming season too is expected to have a weekly-episodic release.
