Only One Indian Movie in Netflix Top 10 Most Watched Global List

OTT enthusiasts might already be aware of the fact that global streaming giant Netflix has recently launched a website that features weekly top ten lists based on the metrics of the total number of hours viewed for a particular title. Through the new website, we can view most-watched English and non-English films and shows globally and country-wise.

As per the latest weekly top ten list for the most-watched non-English films streaming on Netflix from across the globe, only one Indian movie has made it to the coveted list. And the name of the film is Ram Madhvani’s thriller ‘Dhamaka’, which started streaming on Netflix from 19th November.

The website further states that ‘Dhamaka’ was watched globally for an impressive 4.82 million hours last week, that is, from 22nd November to 28th November. While on the top spot for the most-watched non-English Netflix film is the feel-good French comedy movie ‘Spoiled Brats’, which was for 15.83 million hours the same week.

Other international films which rank ahead of ‘Dhamaka’ include the Spanish drama ‘Oulaws’, Brazilian rom-com ‘Just Short of Perfect’, and Turkish social drama ‘Love Me Instead’.

Dhamaka’ boasts of another interesting statistic as per the aforementioned website. Besides featuring in the top ten films list in India, ‘Dhamaka’ also ranks amongst the top ten films in other Asian and African countries including Bahrain, Bangladesh, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, UAE, and Mauritius.

Helmed by Ram Madhvani (Director – Aarya, Neerja), ‘Dhamaka’ revolves around a disgraced, washed-out journalist Arjun Pathak (played by Kartik Aaryan) who has been demoted to a radio jockey. The former anchor sees a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get the promotion he wants, after he receives a shocking call from a grudge-bearing, vengeful person on his radio show. But he gets much more than what he had bargained for, with (literally) explosive consequences.
