Marvel is on a roll this year. The superhit release of WandaVision and the records broken by the ongoing Falcon and Winter Soldier tells that whatever Marvel is doing, is doing it perfectly right. With many more upcoming series and movies on the way, there is one that is going to enter the MCU timeline. We are talking about Marvel Studios’ upcoming series “Secret Invasion”.
We already know the series was on its way, but now there comes one exciting news. News is that Oscar winner actress Olivia Colman is all set to make her Marvel debut with the upcoming series. She will be joining Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn in the series. Jackson and Mendelsohn will be reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Skrulls Talos respectively.
Along with Olivia Colman’s entry in the MCU, it is also being stated that One Night In Miami star Kingsley Ben-Adir is set to join the cast as the villain for the series. Secret Invasion will use the events from Captain Marvel as a jumping off point and continue to discover it in the upcoming series.
The plot at the moment is kept under wraps, but whatever is known from the comics we can say that the story will follow the invasion of the shapeshifting alien species, as they take the shape of humans on earth. The role of Olivia Colman is still unknown at this point. If things go as planned, the shoot for the show will begin pretty soon in Europe and mainly London.
Directors are being discussed for the job at the moment. Kyle Bradstreet, who worked on the acclaimed cyber-thriller series Mr. Robot, is writing and executive producing Invasion.
Colman won an Oscar for her performance in The Favourite, alongside Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz. She is also nominated for this year’s Oscars in the category Best Supporting Actress for her role in British drama The Father
