It’s time for Christmas! A time for warmth, good cheer and all good things for everyone. Even the crappy year 2021 cannot dampen Christmas spirits that are rising to a crescendo around the world! The entertainment industry has also caught on to the Christmas cheer with gusto – a fact that is proved by the tons of films and web series set to release on OTT platforms!

Satyamev Jayate 2 – Hindi film, 23rd December, Prime Video

The spiritual sequel of Satyamev Jayate, the film stars John Abraham in a triple role – twin brothers, each on opposite sides of the law, and their father. The film takes on the issues of corruption and justice in Indian culture.

Adele: One Night Only – Concert Special, 24th December, SonyLIV

The much-awaited concert special from Adele, in celebration of her new album ’30’. She performs three songs from her new album, several of her old numbers, and chats with Oprah Winfrey, where she opens up on her music, marriage, divorce, her recent weight loss, and lots more.

Bhajarangi 2 – Kannada film, 23rd December, ZEE5

A fantasy drama, Bhajarangi 2 stars Dr Shiva Rajkumar as Aanji, a wandering hero with a violent past. He redeems himself when he saves a village and its sacred book from an evil being, also avenging his sister’s death in the process. The film has supernatural elements and lots of action and drama.

Don’t Look Up – English film, 24th December, Netflix

A couple of low-level astronomers discover that a massive comet will strike planet earth soon. But when they set out to educate their fellow citizens, including the President of the country, of the impending danger, they realise – no one’s interested!

Atrangi Re – Hindi film (also in Tamil dub), 24th December, Disney Plus Hotstar

Supposedly a love triangle, the musical drama stars Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan as leads. A R Rahman has given music for the film, which is directed by Aanand L Rai. The Tamil version of Atrangi Re is titled as Galatta Kalyanam.

Encanto – English animated movie, 24th December, Disney Plus Hotstar

The Madrigal family is blessed with magical superpowers, which they use for the betterment of the villagers. But one day, their magic starts fading, and only one thing can bring it back. A delightful and heartwarming film about magic and family love.

Minnal Murali – Malayalam film (also dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu), 24th December, Netflix

Tovino Thomas stars as a lovable village simpleton, who gains superhuman qualities after he is struck by lightning. He turns into a superhero vigilante, and helps save his people from an evil enemy.

Maanaadu – Tamil film, 24th December, SonyLIV

Maanaadu is a sci-fi and action film that is centered on the recent trend of the time loop. A common man (Simbu) and a police officer (S. J Suryah) are trapped in a never-ending time loop on a day the CM is likely to be assassinated at a public conference. Venkat Prabhu has written and directed Maanaadu.

Madhuram – Malayalam film, 24th December, SonyLIV

Malayalam film Madhuram is a sweet emotional drama that centres on the themes of hope, love, friendship and empathy. A bunch of strangers forge strong bonds of support and friendship at a hospital as each faces a difficult time. Directed by Ahmed Khabeer, and starring Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, Shruthi Ramachandran, Indrans, Nikhila Vimal, among others.

The Wheel Of Time Finale Episode – 24th December, Prime Video

The finale episode of the epic fantasy series that is set in the backdrop of magic, fantastical creatures, ancient secrets and more.

The Suicide Squad – English film, 24th December, Prime Video

The bunch of anti-superheroes is sent to the island nation of Corto Maltese to destroy evidence of the giant alien starfish Starro the Conqueror. Directed by James Gunn, starring Idris Alba, Margot Robbie, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, among others.

Switchh – Hindi film, 24th December, Eros Now

A street racing film, set in Dubai with elements of a heist flick. A team of three con artists plan to rob Ruhina Malik, the scion of the Malik Empire. Starring Armen Grayg, Hanif Hilal, Naren Kumar, Vikrant Massey, Madhua Sneha and Tanvi Vyas

Parampara – Telugu series, 24th December, Disney Plus Hotstar

A crime drama with family, power and politics at the centre of the narrative. Two powerful families face-off against each other. The patriarchs of the two families have a long-standing enmity, which escalates when the sons of both enter into the picture. Starring R. Blood Money, Tamil film, 24th December, ZEE5

Blood Money is a suspenseful race-against-time thriller. Priya Bhavani Shankar stars as a journalist who uncovers startling clues through viewing footage of the crime, clues that can help save two innocent expatriate Indians from the death penalty in Kuwait. The film also stars Metro Shirish.

Antim – Hindi film, 24 December, ZEE5
Antim: The Final Truth stars Aayush Sharma as a petty criminal who rises the ranks to become the most dreaded and invincible gangster – until he runs into an upright police officer (Salman Khan) with relentless drive to see that justice is served. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.

WWW, Telugu film, 24th December, SonyLIV

A sci-fi thriller starring Adith Arun, Shivani Rajasekhar, Viva Harsha, Priyadarshi Pullikonda among others. It is a lockdown movie, featuring a set of friends who keep in touch on Zoom, when one day, their computers get hacked. The film is directed by K. V. Guhan.

The Silent Sea – Korean drama series, 24th December, Netflix

A thriller sci-fi series, in which a team of space-explorers is sent on a perilous mission to an abandoned research facility on the moon, in order to retrieve samples and save classified secrets from spilling out.

Rudrabinar Obhishaap Part 1 – Bengali series, 24th December, Hoichoi TV

A new musical adventure, starring Sudip Mukherjee, Rupanjana Mitra, Saurav Das and Dwitipriya Roy, which unfolds more mystery, an unspoken legend and an ancient curse that will change everyone’s past and what they know about themselves.

Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri – Bengali film, 25th December, Hoichoi TV
