Samay Raina is in massive trouble. His show India’s Got Latent is not latent anymore. In fact, it has become so viral that sitting Chief Ministers and the whole system have become active. One thing that has come as a surprise is that politicians have forgotten every political rivalry and each one of them is condemning the act. Well, whatever happened was despicable.
But there is something interesting that has unsurfaced and it concerns OTT.
Samay Raina said: “Thanks to memberships, I’m already in profit. Do you get it? And that makes me happy because right now, OTT platforms are offering me huge sums to bring India’s Got Latent to their platforms. But the problem? They’ll have too much control over the content. Memberships allow me to stay independent. I can keep the show exactly as it is. I don’t want to cut this joke, I don’t want to mute certain things. I want it to stay raw. Controversy might follow, but I’d rather keep it raw.”
So, this statement makes it very clear that OTT runs through a lot of censorship. No platform would want to own the kind of content that Samay Raina has hosted. Thus it is a good move that platforms keep a check on such comments because it can severely damage their positioning as well as existence in the Indian OTT market. So, we are pretty sure that OTT platforms must be at ease after Samay pulled off their offers.
