OTT Platform’s Dirty Game With Vikram Vedha Going For Business?

Just before the release of the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster ‘Vikram Vedha’, MX Player had made the dubbed version of the original available for free on the platform.

This is a very dirty game being played by the OTT platforms that can affect the business of the film very drastically. Fans have emotions and this feels downright unethical to make the movie available for free just before the release.

The dubbed Hindi version had gained fame and love from across India and there were also talks about the futility of remaking such a movie which is already widely known to the Hindi audience. But the looks and the trailer intrigued the audience and Hrithik Roshan with his powerful performance made sure that there is enough hype for the Hindi ‘Vikram Vedha‘.

Also Vikram Vedha team has taken down the full Hindi dubbed movie from the youtube channel of Goldmines Telefilms, which is alright. Easy availability is something that is harmful For any theatrical release. There is already too much hatred for remakes in Bollywood currently and we saw how there was a rise in the viewership of Forrest Gump just during the release of Laal Singh Chaddha. Vikram Vedha’s chances of success are being made lesser by the tactics used for MX Player’s own business.

But there is nothing illegal in promoting the film that they have acquired the rights for, and it is not something wrong to market the dubbed version. But the platform could have been more sensitive towards the emotion of the fans and postponed this to some more days for the better success of the movie.
