Droughtlander is finally over! Coz the much-awaited new Season 7 of Starz’s blockbuster show ‘Outlander’ is finally streaming in India, much to the delight of the legions of fans of the time-travelling, historical drama series. ‘Outlander’ Season 7 Episode 1 is now streaming on Netflix India this morning, along with its US premiere on STARZ. Netflix India is the streaming home for the popular series in India.
For those who don’t know, ‘droughtlander’ is the oh-so-lovable term used by Outlander fans as they wait out the drought of new Outlander episodes to watch. The series is based on the best selling novels of the same name, written by Diana Gabaldon. Outlander Season 7 is based on the seventh book of the Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone.
Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a former World War II nurse who in 1946 finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743. There she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and falls in love with him.
Season 6 of Outlander ended on a thrilling cliffhanger, leaving fans breathless in anticipation for Outlander Season 7. The new season of Outlander sees Jamie and Claire thrust into the middle of a changing political and social landscape, caught up in the onslaught of the American Revolutionary War.
The official synopsis of Outlander Season 7 reads, “Following the harrowing events of Season 6, Jamie and Young Ian race to rescue Claire before she’s tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie. But their mission is complicated by the beginning of a geopolitical firestorm: The American Revolution has arrived. In the seventh season of Outlander, Jamie, Claire, and their family are caught in the violent birth pains of an emerging nation as armies march to war and British institutions crumble in the face of armed rebellion. As the conflict draws them out of North Carolina and into the heart of this fight for independence, Jamie, Claire, Brianna, and Roger are faced with impossible decisions that have the potential to tear their family apart”.
Outlander Season 7 consists of sixteen episodes in all, which will air in two parts of eight episodes each. The first eight episodes will stream weekly, starting from today (Friday in the US). The next eight episodes of Outlander Season 7 will premiere sometime in 2024.
