The man from “True Detective” has landed a new job, now accompanied by Loki’s favorite, Morbius. “Lips Like Sugar” has just announced its cast, and on the surface, it looks really promising.
The main two pillars in casting were definitely Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson. Both Oscar nominees have prior experience working in thrillers of this caliber, especially Woody Harrelson in his “True Detective” series.
On the other hand, Owen will revisit his “Starsky & Hutch” days, quite a nostalgic moment for the veteran actor.
Besides them, the director managed to assemble some strong performers like Juliette Lewis from “Yellowjackets,” Sasha Calle from “The Flash,” Kathryn Newton from “Big Little Lies,” and Erin Moriarty from “The Boys.”
Talking about the plot, Harrelson and Wilson star as detectives in LA, tasked with solving a serial killer case during the Olympics. Amid pressure to label murders as missing persons, they intersect with Tracy and Andi, two teens, as Tracy vanishes. With a deadline looming, the detectives and Andi must locate Tracy before it’s too late.
With such an established cast and minds like Brantley Gutierrez and Anthony Tambakis behind the show, Lips Like Sugar does have some prominent potential. As “True Detective” just rejuvenated, will Wilson and Harrelson elevate the new show to that caliber? Only time shall tell.
