The Byrdes will be back for one last time. Netflix has announced the release date of the second part of Ozarks fourth and final season. And yes, as the teaser suggests, it is sooner than fans expected. It drops on 29th April 2022.
Netflix released a teaser video confirming the release date. It has a voice over from Julia Garner, who plays the role of the fiery Ruth Langmore. The teaser picks off from where part 1 ended. At the end of part 1, Ruth Langmore had just lost her brother Wyatt (Charlie Tahan) and she was on her way to find Javi (Alfonso Herrera), the cartel leader who had killed her brother. Julia Garner has undoubtedly been the biggest star of this show with her power packed performance. She has also won two back-to-back Emmy Awards for outstanding supporting actress.
Ozark premiered in 2017 with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, a married couple who move their family to the Lake of the Ozarks for money laundering. Jason Bateman also serves as a director and executive producer for the series. Jason Bateman has traditionally directed the first two episodes of the season. However, for the final season he chose to skip these duties due to potential complications that may have risen due to various covid related restrictions.
Ozark has largely received positive reviews from critics and audiences. It has been one of Netflix’s bigger hits. The show has received a total of 32 primetime Emmy Award nominations. Apart from the wins for Julia Garner, Jason Bateman won for Outstanding Directing in 2019.
Ever since part 1 of season 4 released on 21st January, fans have been speculating the release date for the second part. It was largely expected that the second part would release post May 31, which is the cut-off date for a show to be eligible for awards this year. By delaying the release of the final episodes after the cut-off date, the show would potentially be eligible for awards across two years – in 2022 as well as 2023.
But it arrives sooner than expected. The show returns with 7 episodes and marks the end of the Byrde era. Check out the teaser from Netflix below:
