Panchayat Season 2 has grabbed a massive win. The TVF series created a big rage both commercially and critically.
“Panchayat 2” emerged victorious at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), securing the first-ever OTT Award for Web Series. The series, available on Amazon Prime, has become a beacon of success on OTT.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and penned by Chandan Kumar, “Panchayat 2” unfolds the narrative of Abhishek Tripathi, a reluctant urban graduate thrust into the role of secretary at a dilapidated panchayat office in the fictional village of Phulera. The second season delves even deeper into Abhishek’s life, as he gets involved with village politics, prepares for his upcoming exams and strives for a corporate future.
The OTT Award reflects the booming growth of the OTT industry in India. Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, emphasised the industry’s significant contribution to employment in the country, citing a dynamic annual growth rate of 28 per cent.
‘Panchayat 2’ was competing with nominations like ‘Rocket Boys: Season 1,’ ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi,’ and ‘Human.’ The jury panel, responsible for selecting the winner, also unanimously recommended a special mention for ‘Rocket Boys: Season 1.’
The competition featured 32 entries spanning 10 languages from 15 different OTT platforms.
