Hotstar Specials, the Indian Originals arm of Disney Plus Hotstar, is getting ready to release the new season of its well received Hindi web series, Criminal Justice. We had informed our readers in January this year that BBC Studios, the original owner of the property, has given the green signal for Criminal Justice Season 2. We had also informed you that the series is almost ready for release, and is most likely to be released in November – December
Well, in keeping with our prediction, shooting for Criminal Justice Season 2 is complete. And the series is about to release. Disney Plus Hotstar released a cute little teaser this morning, announcing that everyone’s favourite lawyer Madhav Mishra is back! Only, this time he’s not alone. Apparently, he’s got a new wife in tow. He says in the teaser, “Hamare haath peele karwa diye”, which is colloquial for getting someone married off. The one-minute teaser even has his new wife ticking him off – though we only hear her, never see her in a the teaser.
But there’s always Binged.com to fill you in on all the interesting details. Well, we can tell you who’s playing Pankaj Tripathi, aka Madhav Mishra’s wife in Criminal Justice Season 2. It is none other than actress Shilpa Shukla – who had earlier impressed viewers with her powerful acting in Chak De India – yes, the Shah Rukh Khan one.
Criminal Justice Season 2 also has several other changes in its cast and crew. The returning cast members in Season 2 are Pankaj Tripathi, Mita Vashist, and Anupriya Goenka. Kirti Kulhari will be the new addition to the cast, along with Shilpa Shukla, and a few other as-yet-undisclosed actors. Pankaj Tripathi’s Madhav Mishra will defend Kirti Kulhari’s character, who’s been accused of murdering her husband.
While Criminal Justice Season 1 was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, their place is taken by Rohan Sippy and Arjun Mukherjee in the new season.
Criminal Justice is a hit show from Hotstar Specials, the Indian originals arm of Disney Plus Hotstar. It is created by Applause Entertainment, part of the Aditya Birla Group Of Companies.
Disney Plus Hotstar had a clear winner on its hands when Criminal Justice released on the platform in April last year. Packed with powerful actors such as Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka and Mita Vashisht, Criminal Justice had been a runaway success for Disney Plus Hotstar. Jackie Shroff and Pankaj Tripathi’s performances, in particular, came in for a lot of praise.
So there, you have it now. Criminal Justice Season 2 will most likely premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar in December. The short teaser released today did not reveal much about the new season or its release date.
