Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are going to be seen in a new musical comedy. The movie has been titled ‘Power Ballad’ and it will be coming from Lionsgate. The movie is directed by John Carney and it is being produced by Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron under the banner of Likely Story, alongside Treasure Entertainment.
John Carney is an Irish filmmaker with some powerful musical titles up his sleeves. He debuted with ‘November Afternoon’ in 1996 and went on to direct films like ‘Once’, ‘Begin Again’ and ‘Zonad’. A song from his ‘Once’ has won the Oscar for Best Original Song, another from ‘Begin Again’ was nominated for one. And the movie ‘Sing street’ was nominated in Golden Globes Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. It will be great to have him direct two actors like Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. The rest of the cast has not been revealed yet.
‘Power Ballad’ will tell the story of a talented wedding singer who is past his Prime now and is fading into obscurity. He meets a rockstar and helps him build on his career through the songs written by the wedding singer. The role of the rockstar is played by Nick Jonas while Paul Rudd plays the wedding singer.
