‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight has stepped in to write the script for one of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars films. The studio has not yet revealed the feature’s official title. It will have Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy as the helmer. She is best known for helming episodes of the Ms Marvel Disney+ series.
According to Variety, the studio was forced to choose Knight as the scribe of their untitled Star Wars project after the original screenwriters, Justin Britt-Gibson and Damon Lindelof, exited the film.
More than three years have passed since the world’s biggest space-opera franchise released a feature, the last one was ‘Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’. More information about the upcoming flick, including the official title, may get disclosed at the Star Wars Celebration event in London in April.
Steven Knight is a veteran screenwriter who wrote the screenplays of prominent features, such as Eastern Promises (2007), Locke (2013), Pawn Sacrifice (2014), Allied (2016), The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018), Spencer (2021), and many more. In the television world, he has created the British version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’, ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Taboo’, ‘See’, and many more.
Disney will reveal the upcoming Star Wars movie’s release window soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
