The uncertainty surrounding the release of these big films due to the pandemic has led to a lot of talks doing round with some even going to the extent of suggesting OTT releases for them. But given the grand scale, big names attached to the cast and crew, the amount of work and budget that has gone into each of these films along with the hype around them, a digital release would not be justified.
While fans are willing to wait for normalcy to return and watch their favourite stars on the big screen, it’s often the producers who are not able to hold the film for long and ultimately caving in for the lucrative OTT option, given the realistic financial constraints in these tough times.
The above was observed for many films like Dhanush’s ‘Jagame Thandiram’, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofan’, Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Malik’, Nani’s ‘Tuck Jagadish’ and more that were made with a lot of dedication and hard work for that ultimate big screen experience but unfortunately could not make it.
But as the theatre situation is gradually picking momentum in some parts of the country and with positive response from viewers, the makers of big films like Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, Kiccha Sudeep’s ‘Vikrant Rona, Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam and Salaar, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, John Abraham’s Attack and many more are gaining back the confidence to wait a little longer if they have to.
Coming to SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, while the makers have not announced any changes in the 13th October release date, there are talks of the film getting postponed due to the still staggering theatre conditions in the country. The film has an all star cast including Ram Charan, NTR Jr., Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and more.
