After a long long time, DC seems to be learning something from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes, it is true that Marvel is trolled for too much content and integrating them unnecessarily but it is their USP nonetheless. People watch even terribly made shows for the sake of continuing through the MCU offerings.
Regardless, Batverse is taking baby steps in doing the same. You might be aware that Matt Reeves is very actively involved in the making of The Penguin Series. In fact, the events in the Penguin series will start only 1 week after the disastrous flood that deluged Gotham City in The Batman.
In an interview with Collider, Matt Reeves stated, “There’s actually a whole little fabric of things we’re wanting to do, the way we’re doing with [the] Penguin and how that comes back into how that will lead into the sequel, and what that sequel is going to be.”
Needless to say, Penguin will lay the foundations for understanding The Batman 2. The interview also confirmed that the shooting for The Penguin will start soon. Thus, the miniseries will be coming soon and it would be important to watch to appreciate The Batman 2.
We hope that the series comes to India at the same time it premiers globally just like MCU shows. Otherwise, it would follow “The Peacemaker” strategy and will be too late to invoke any interest.
