Antony Varghese AKA Pepe, the Malayalam superstar known for his brilliant performances in Angamaly Diaries, ‘Swathandriam Ardharathriyil’ and ‘Jallikkattu’, is the film lead in the theatrically released film, ‘Ajagajantharam’. The movie was released in theatres on December 23rd 2021 and while the release was low key, it managed to stay in theatres despite the majority of the film going crowd preferred to go to either ‘Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1’ or ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. And now, after the hype for both films have does down, ‘Ajagajantharam’ will be bringing in the Malayali crowd with its unique story.
‘Ajagajantharam‘ has been running in theatres for three weeks now and has already made over Rs. 30 crores. When compared to its production cost of Rs. 4.7 crores, the Malayalam action thriller is a definite financial hit – that too for a movie that many didn’t notice, had released in theatres. With a little bit more marketing, we are sure that this film can bring in more people to theatres.
With the rise in Covid-19 and Omicron cases all over the country, this is the best option for theatres in Kerala right now. With the release of many expected crowd pleasers like ‘RRR’ and ‘Salute’ getting postponed to a later date, cinema hall owners will have to make do with what they have. And what they have is a brilliant film in ‘Ajagajantharam’. Just like the movie title suggests, the film starts off with an incident and eventually becomes entertaining chaos.
