“Percy Jackson and The Olympians” certainly emerges as one of the most hyped series of the entire year, and as promised, it did give Disney and Hulu a surge of viewers. As the first episode has been streaming for almost a week, some news outlets are here to report the stats.
As of yesterday, the first episode of “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” has collected a total of 13.3 million viewers.
This success marks it as the fifth-best performing content on both platforms. Disney and Hulu, this year, hosted some big titles such as “Loki Season 2” and “Secret Invasion” from the house of MCU.
Other titles such as “Ahsoka,” “Bear,” and “Only Murders In The Building” are a few of the popular titles on both streaming platforms, and coming fifth in such a competitive space is definitely promising. Though this year, Disney failed to crack the theatrical space, they were pretty flawless in their OTT performance.
“Percy Jackson” garnered an impressive 13.3 million viewers in six days on Disney+, while “Ahsoka” achieved a slightly higher 14 million in five days.
“Loki Season 2,” with 10.9 million premiere viewers in three days, likely surpassed “Percy Jackson” by the six-day mark. Both Disney and Netflix define a “view” based on the total time watched divided by runtime.
Despite targeting middle graders, “Percy Jackson” impressively competes with adult-oriented series like “Ahsoka” and “Loki” in viewership.
Being Disney’s potential major franchise launch, it stands out against established “Star Wars” and Marvel entries. In comparison, “Goosebumps” reached 4.2 million viewers in three days, suggesting “Percy Jackson” has a substantial audience.
