Disney+ has dropped the official teaser trailer for its anticipated series, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Set to premiere on December 20th, this adaptation promises to bring Rick Riordan’s beloved young-adult fantasy book series to life in an epic eight-episode first season.
The teaser introduces us to the talented cast that will be bringing these iconic characters to the small screen. Walker Scobell takes on the role of Percy Jackson, the 12-year-old modern demigod who finds himself in a whirlwind of adventure and divine powers. Leah Sava Jeffries portrays Annabeth Chase, the intelligent and resourceful daughter of Athena, while Aryan Simhadri embodies the role of Grover Underwood, Percy’s loyal and satyr friend.
But it’s not just our trio of heroes who steal the spotlight. Disney+ has assembled an impressive ensemble cast that includes Adam Copeland as the formidable god of War, Ares, Suzanne Cryer as the menacing Mother of Monsters, Echidna, and Jessica Parker Kennedy as the infamous gorgon, Medusa. With these additions, the world of Percy Jackson is set to be more vibrant and captivating than ever before.
The official logline for the series hints at the epic journey that awaits viewers: “‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson (Scobell), who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover (Simhadri) and Annabeth (Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.”
But how is the teaser?
Honestly, it is too Disnified. The teaser looks very cheap as it does not show any set of great production designs. The overall VFX and everything is simply not up to the mark. Disney is messing up with what makes them Disney. For over 100 years now, Disney has been the pioneer of animation, but the latest teaser looks bad in every aspect.
