It was the year 2004 when Star World launched an elite talk show called Koffee With Karan. It was hosted by Karan Johar and big Bollywood celebrities graced the couch.
Soon it became a part of pop culture and a show which could immediately blast any controversy. It has been the epicentre of many confessions, the short-lived doom of Hardik Pandya’s career and the breeding ground of Kangana’s nepotism debate.
Overall, one may hate or love the show, but the impact it has left is second only to the evergreen and iconic “Rendezvous With Simi Garewal”.
But sadly, after 6 magnificent seasons, the chat show won’t be returning. Karan Johar has announced the news himself that he won’t return for the seventh season.
The immediate response from the fans was negative as they wanted the show to return. And it may very well happen but at least not soon.
The announcement must have been in response to the buzz that was going around Koffee With Karan in the last few days. One must never doubt the wit of Karan Johar as all his decisions are kept following the public’s mood.
Every day there is a sort of campaign against the wokeness in Bollywood. Also, Karan Johar has been successfully projected as the poster boy for it.
So this may be a decision after keeping that in mind. But yet again, Karan Johar used the word “not” instead of “never”.
So there are chances that we may see Koffee With Karan or any rebranded show in the same format. But that will certainly take time.
