The official trailer for ‘Phone Bhoot‘ starring Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khattar and Siddhant Chaturvedi is out now. The movie is directed by Gurmeet Singh and is produced by the famed production house of Excel Entertainment.
The movie looks like a parody of the famous franchise of ‘Ghostbusters’. As far as the trailer shows, the story is about two young men, played by Siddhant and Ishaan who suddenly are gifted with the ability to see ghosts. A ghost played by Katrina Kaif comes to them with a scheme. She will disturb and haunt people and they may pose as ‘Bhoot busters’ and make a pretence of driving her away and take a lot of money from the landlords in return. This is way too similar to Suriya’s superhit ‘Masu Engira Masilamani’ which is famous with the name ‘Masss’ for the Hindi dub. The ghost too wants something in return, which is to stop an evil antagonist played by Jackie Shroff and to get ‘Moksh’ or salvation to a cursed spirit. The film gives some kind of a tribute to ‘Ghostbusters’ too. But too many inspirations and tributes make the flow of the trailer go loose.
The trailer is dull and there is nothing intriguing in the dialogues, punchlines and concept too. Good actors like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khattar seem to have been wasted in another upcoming bollywood masala disaster. Let’s hope the movie turns out to be better than the trailer. The production house that has names like Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar as the producers, and has produced films like K.G.F, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Chahta Hai, Gully Boy cannot do something so crappy as the trailer looks. So there is a hope that the movie may actually be good.
Phone Bhoot will be released in theatres on the 4th of November. The OTT rights of the film are with Amazon Prime Video.
