Best known for his directional work in Nicolas Cage’s Pig (2021), Michael Sarnoski is now ready to step inside the world of graphic novel adaptations. The helmer has been roped in by the duo of New Regency and RT Features to direct the live-action adaptation of Sabrina, a graphic novel penned down by Nick Drnaso. However, Sarnoski is currently busy in the production works of the ‘A Quiet Place’ spin-off project. Paramount has selected him as the writer and director for the project. In 2019, Bad Times at El Royale fame, Drew Goddard, was first considered by makers to helm Sabrina.
Sabrina is based on the life of a man filled with anguish and rage after the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend. He decides to live with one of his old friends who works in the Air Force. But things get worse after some news channels start showing leaked footage of Sabrina’s disappearance. Soon, the duo of friends become a target of many media outlets, social media, and people around them. They even get targeted by some vitriolic conspiracy theorists. How they will deal with this chaotic scenario will be shown in the upcoming film.
The graphic novel Sabrina became an instant hit in 2018. Publications like The Guardian, New York Times, The Atlantic, and many more included it in their respective prestigious lists of ‘one of the year’s best’. Additionally, it received the honour of becoming the first graphic novel to be long-listed for the Man Booker Prize.
The makers have not yet revealed the release window of Sabrina. First, Michael Sarnoski will finish his work for the ‘A Quiet Place’ spin-off. Then, we can expect the helmer to commence directing the Nick Drnaso’s graphic novel. Stay tuned for more updates.
